Thanx all for waiting that absurdly long time for a good post from me.
Last weekend was the FAN Expo, formally known as SFX. It seems to get larger every year and I learn how to use my time more wisely every time I go. I managed to blow about $1000 of joint income with my new (official) fiance, and I think we made some good deals and walked away with everything we wanted to get... more or less.
We had a large group come with us this year. Deanna, a friend of my fiance's, who owes me alot of cash but still managed to afford coming down. Jon and Melissa, a couple we hang with, my little brother and Carl. I naturally took the role of organizer and leader, and am pretty content with my performance. Everything went according to plan. We caught the seminars we wanted and had ample time for food, rest and shopping.
Video Games Live was one of the most amazing experiences of my life and i urge ANYONE interested in music and/or games to check it out. From what I hear it might become a yearly event so stay tuned to www.videogameslive.com
Tommy Tallarico was on hand later at the con to answer questions, and he cherged me in fixing the video game journalism industry. I now have a quest in life.
Saturday night held the biggest moment for us. I arranged for reservations for dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe. Plans we set up weeks in advance with my friends and the cafe staff so that I could propose to Alicia properly. The waitress would keep an eye on the table and wait for my signal, and at the drop of a key phrase everyone at the table would make an excuse to set away so we could have some privacy. Alicia almost got up with the rest of them but other then that it went perfectly and she said yes then started crying. I won't bore you with the little speech I gave her before the ring, but it had to do with couples in some of our favorite stories as a reference to our lives. It went well considering I ad-libed most of it. Sparkling wine was brought over and we were introduced to the entire restaurant as a newly enganged couple with everyone shouting their congratulations. A great night none of us will ever forget.
Other little notes of the weekend. I'm now VERY broke, which I expected and can recover from. I'm not as bad at DDR as I thought, and that new Naruto fighting game for the PS2 isn't bad at all if you can get past the voices.
And the reason I haven'y posted for so long? Simply put I was afraid I'd drop a clue here and she's read it. Sorry all. If it helps just consider your patience an assist to my plan, to which I'm grateful.
No date has been set yet, but we hope to get the wedding done by 2010, as well as the heonymoon to Japan.
*Tries to think of stuff to mention*
I'm an official college grad now. I have a Xbox 360 with Prey, Ghost Recon and Elder Scrolls 4, my appartment still isn't painted and, well, life goes on.
I think that's good for now. I'll be posting regularly again, though I'll be gone for a week while in London, Ontario for work. There's a lot more to talk about though, so stay tuned!Current Mood: content
