I'm over at psychediver.blogspot.com so please read about me there! |

It's been so long since I've had time off from work that I decided to forget about everything I needed to do today and layed about. I'm kicking myself right now but at least I'm somewhat refreshed.
I haven't touched my 360 in far too long. I need gaming time...
I got a 30GB Creative Zen:M MP3 player and gave my 256mb iriver to Alicia. I really love this thing and now she's starting to enjoy daily tunes as well. I'll upgrade her soon enough.
I pre-ordered .hack//G.U. because I wanted the limited edition Haseo figure. More precicely I wanted it for Alicia.
I bought a few geeky patches that I'm going to get put on my coat for the fall/winter/spring. I'll post some pics when I got it set.
I've had to delay work on the site until Jon and Mel move back to Toronto. It'll be hell to collaborate unless we can meet and work.
Might be joining an MUD soon. It's like a text-based RPG on forums. I really want to find a D&D group here in Toronto so I'm looking at online metting listings. Hopefully something will materialize.
Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man... now why didn't I think of that...?
More when I'm feeling more productive... ttylCurrent Mood: blah Current Music: weird al yankovic - canadian idiot

Pretty close to losing my job at Pizza Pizza, not that I care really. It gives me the perfect excuse to get off my ass and find a writing job. I do need to get my portfolio together.
Mass Effect has been set for Q1 2007. In Bioware I trust.

Set up my comic buys for the month thanks to IGN C-Note.
Astonishing X-Men #17 - Marvel - $2.99 Writer: Joss Whedon | Artist: John Cassaday Joss Whedon might defy logic sometimes (see the "Yeahbutwhat?" scene from last issue), but he and John Cassaday are always entertaining. We're entering the last leg of this classic X-Men run, but it's not too late to get started if you haven't already. Civil War #4 - Marvel - $2.99 Writer: Mark Millar | Artist: Steve McNiven Thor has returned and he's ready to kill someone. Mark Millar and Steve McNiven return after a series of delays to give us what is arguably the most captivating, and divisive, Marvel story in years. Issue #4 is right around the corner! Wildcats: Worldstorm #1 - DC - $2.99 Writer: Grant Morrison | Artist: Jim Lee It's Grant Morrison and Jim Lee. That's all we need to say. Go buy this comic. Fables #53 - DC - $2.99 Writer: Bill Willingham | Artist: Mark Buckingham The fate of Fabletown is decided in a meeting of the Adversary's generals. Will it be war? A series of assassinations? A tea party? We're privy to some chilling examples of what may befall Fabletown in the coming years. Plus, there's a backup story featuring art by the very talented Josh Middleton. Uncanny X-Men #478 - Marvel - $2.99 Writer: Ed Brubaker | Artist: Billy Tan Following the lackluster intermission issue, things are back on track. The crazy Summers brother is going to destroy everything that's had a hand in his horrible upbringing. And that means Corsair and the Shi'Ar Empire are in his sites. X-Men #191 - Marvel - $2.99 Writer: Mike Carey | Artist: Chris Bachalo It took a couple of issues, but Mike Carey and Chris Bachalo have propelled this book into the top tier of X-books, even above certain ones located in space. Carey has managed to take the typical "mystery villain" plot and make it interesting by giving us the oddest X-team in the history of the title. Add in some breathtaking action sequences by Bachalo and you have a winner. Civil War: Front Line #6 - Marvel - $2.99 Writer: Paul Jenkins | Artist: Various Front Line might seem less important than its bigger cousin because of its placement on our list, but trust us when we say it's just as good. Do not miss this book. It fills in a lot of details surrounding the registration battle that can't possibly be crammed into the main event. If you are enjoying Civil War then you will enjoy Front Line. Nextwave #8 - Marvel - $2.99 Writer: Warren Ellis | Artist: Stuart Immonen What can you expect from this issue? We can guarantee three things: Something will get kicked, things will explode, and you will laugh your ass off. Grant Morrison declared deconstructionism is dead in comics. This is the proof. KA-BOOM!! Eternals #4 - Marvel - $3.99 Writer: Neil Gaiman | Artist: John Romita, Jr. Do we really need more super-powerful beings in the Marvel Universe? Surely that was the question everyone had when they started to read the new Eternals series. Neil Gaiman has done a superb job of not only crafting a mystery around these beings, but has managed to insert his story right into the middle of Civil War. Gaiman and Romita, Jr. wanted readers to discover the Eternals as they read, and given the quality of the title so far, that's exactly what we are eager to do. Stan Lee Meets Spider-Man - Marvel - $3.99 Writer: Stan Lee & Joss Whedon | Artist: Olivier Coipel The concept of this series is just too good to ignore. To celebrate Stan Lee's 65th anniversary with Marvel, Stan and an assortment of modern creators are gathering to tell tales of Stan meeting some of his best creations. While Dr. Strange, Dr. Doom and others are all great, it would be insane to ignore Stan meeting Spider-Man. If you're looking for light-hearted fun (with a backup story by Joss Whedon) look no further. Daughters of the Dragon: Samurai Bullets - Marvel - $15.99 Writer: Justin Gray & Jimmy Palmiotti | Artist: Khari Evans If you dig Nextwave, but want a bit more T&A to go with the kicking and exploding, look no further than DOD. Khari Evans does wonders with Misty Knight and Colleen Wing. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll have improper thoughts about two-dimensional images. Good times.
I'm exited about the return of Alpha Flight, though it will be called Omega Flight now. Got the special edition of Soulfire #6 at the con, LOVE this series.
Got a package from Megagear today. I'm reworking my wordrobe to fit my true geeky nature. I'm tapping Thinkgeek as well. I got:

And a few knick-knacks, accesories and bling. More money is needed but eventually I'll have a fully geeked-out fashion going. Perfectly me.
Dinner needs attending to. God I love cooking.
Off on a business roadtrip sadly, I'll post upon return. Take care all! Current Mood: okay Current Music: (Hiroshi Kitadani) - Deep Red

Thanx all for waiting that absurdly long time for a good post from me.
Last weekend was the FAN Expo, formally known as SFX. It seems to get larger every year and I learn how to use my time more wisely every time I go. I managed to blow about $1000 of joint income with my new (official) fiance, and I think we made some good deals and walked away with everything we wanted to get... more or less.
We had a large group come with us this year. Deanna, a friend of my fiance's, who owes me alot of cash but still managed to afford coming down. Jon and Melissa, a couple we hang with, my little brother and Carl. I naturally took the role of organizer and leader, and am pretty content with my performance. Everything went according to plan. We caught the seminars we wanted and had ample time for food, rest and shopping.
Video Games Live was one of the most amazing experiences of my life and i urge ANYONE interested in music and/or games to check it out. From what I hear it might become a yearly event so stay tuned to www.videogameslive.com
Tommy Tallarico was on hand later at the con to answer questions, and he cherged me in fixing the video game journalism industry. I now have a quest in life.
Saturday night held the biggest moment for us. I arranged for reservations for dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe. Plans we set up weeks in advance with my friends and the cafe staff so that I could propose to Alicia properly. The waitress would keep an eye on the table and wait for my signal, and at the drop of a key phrase everyone at the table would make an excuse to set away so we could have some privacy. Alicia almost got up with the rest of them but other then that it went perfectly and she said yes then started crying. I won't bore you with the little speech I gave her before the ring, but it had to do with couples in some of our favorite stories as a reference to our lives. It went well considering I ad-libed most of it. Sparkling wine was brought over and we were introduced to the entire restaurant as a newly enganged couple with everyone shouting their congratulations. A great night none of us will ever forget.
Other little notes of the weekend. I'm now VERY broke, which I expected and can recover from. I'm not as bad at DDR as I thought, and that new Naruto fighting game for the PS2 isn't bad at all if you can get past the voices.
And the reason I haven'y posted for so long? Simply put I was afraid I'd drop a clue here and she's read it. Sorry all. If it helps just consider your patience an assist to my plan, to which I'm grateful.
No date has been set yet, but we hope to get the wedding done by 2010, as well as the heonymoon to Japan.
*Tries to think of stuff to mention*
I'm an official college grad now. I have a Xbox 360 with Prey, Ghost Recon and Elder Scrolls 4, my appartment still isn't painted and, well, life goes on.
I think that's good for now. I'll be posting regularly again, though I'll be gone for a week while in London, Ontario for work. There's a lot more to talk about though, so stay tuned!Current Mood: content

| » HOLY S**T THAT'S GOOD SOUP!!! |
http://www.originalsoupman.com/
Yeah, one of these places opened up in the Eaton's Centre. I think it may be the only one in Canada. So After the interview at NOW (I'll get to that next) I find myself at the centre around lunchish. I pop in and there it is across from the food court. VERY clean and a sign telling patrons how to line up straight, make the order fast and move to the far left. It was a desision between Crab Bisque or Beef Gumbo. I went with the beef and got it to go with a root beer just in case it was bad. Along with the bowl (medium on the range of sizes and pretty expensive for soup) I got a nice piece of bread, a good plastic spoon (probably the best plastic spoon I've ever used) a chocolate, a napkin, two side add-ons for the soup (one was shredded cheddar/parsley and the other sour cream) and a tangerine. I was actually surprised at everything I got which made me feel better about the price. I took it to go and went outside, across the street to Dundas Square. Small tables for the summer, street performers with actual music talent and water fountains in parts of the walkway so kids can play (I remember one night getting hammered and running through those things... lots of fun). It was a great day and it was all very calming. I opened the soup bowl (sturdy little thing), added the add-ons, mixed a bit and then started testing it like a pro. Smell was deep and reminisent of beef herbs, the colour was a deep brown (lightened a bit nicely by the sour cream) and it looks REALLY hearty. After tasting it I can clearly state that not only would it be worth twice the price but THAT WAS THE BEST FUCKING SOUP I'VE EVER HAD!!!
If you can, have soup there. YOU MUST COMPLY! RESISTENCE IS FUTILE!!!
So, the meeting went very well. I was there early as usual (it's a good practice if you're in the journalism game) and had a snack of some cheap California rolls at the NOW lounge (8 pieces for $4 and good quality is pretty good). I managed to get all the important questions answered well before she had to split. Very nice lady with a very rich history, that Susan Cole is. I'll start dicecting the recording tomorrow. And Susan, if you're reading this, Thanks a bunch. You can expect my application!
I got Neverwinter Nights: Diamond Edition yesterday. I'll start in on it after the school year ends. Tomorrow is far too busy to even think about gaming. Plus I'm paying for EVE.
Bought X-men: The 198 ish.#4 and the box set to Magical Shopping Arcade Abenohashi. Both very good. I was going to get the latest Wildcats: Coda and Wildcats: Nemesis, but since I don't have any of the previous issues in the mini-run I'll wait for the trade paperback.
Can't wait for the income tax money to come in so I can seriously start shopping for that laptop. I've been looking for one on ebay. I hope I can find something by Alienware in my price range. I'd love to carry one of those.
OK so I think I'm going to use this semi-formal and just take the plunge. Gotta work out how exactly.
Oh yeah, check this: http://www.weakgame.com/media_9027_Light_Sabre_Duel.html
Not only if this the best saber duel I've ever seen, but it rocks all the more because it was done by fans (probably film students) and George Lucas had NOTHING to do with it. I'm going to send an e-mail to George Strombo @ the Hour, they like putting these cool finds on the air.
L8S all!

| » munching on trail mix... |
Decided to head down to the boookstore between classes and pick up a bunch of snacks. I usually use this class to update and surf so I prefer to be comfortable. It's really hot in here today though...
I got Ms. Vickies regular chips, some Rold Gold pretzels, trail mix and a Minute Maid Orange Juice.
Got that feature done. Sounded pretty well and was fairly easy to clean up. Handed in my postcard and CD cover as well.
Signed up for a semi-formal grad party. I got the max of 4 tickets at $20 a pop. Going to be myself, Alicia, Jon and Leah.
Hmm... Maybe I should propose there. It's really either that or Ginza Sushi in June. There was also the idea of going to the Montreal Bistro but most of my peeps think she'll catch on.
I could really use some feedback on this...
Doesn't look like Carl will be out this week. I'm going to give him one more week and that's it. I'll tell him Saturday.
I've gotta learn how people are posting pics here. For now I might just link from my photobucket.
Oh yeah if you haven't been to 4chan.org they have some new boards they're trialing. Good stuff, especially the cosplay board.
So Easter will soon be upon us. I have to work Good Friday. Saturday Alicia and I will be going to Baby Steps. Alicia will be pitching ideas for their website which she will create, and I'll be intereviewing the girls and observing for an article I'm going to pitch to Today's Parent. If they like Alicia's work they'll contract her for Project RED accounts, and if Today's Parent likes my work it might just launch my career.
Sunday is DINNER WITH FAMILY! I love dinners with the whole family. Good food, good conversation, and a small sense of belonging. Even Alicia says she prefers the tighter-knit family life I enjoy to hers.
X-Men: the 198 ish #4 hit shelves yesterday. Gotta grab that, even though the IGN review says to pass it. I'm really waiting for the rebirth of Wildcats. Cyberforce is starting up again and ish #1 isn't bad.

Well into my searching for a laptop. If anyone is selling one or sees one on sale on the net, let me know. I'm pretty much looking only for a protable word prosessor. A CD burner/DVD reader combo drive and a USB 2.0 connection are all I need. I don't really care about anything else as long as they're sufficient. Software I can take care of myself. Good bettery life is important.
Next week is going to my a complete mind-frag. I don't think I'll be getting any sleep and I'll be getting as much time in class as possible. I have that assesment on Tuesday, interview on Thursday, and a shitload of stuff due.
I wish I could afford to buy stuff at ThinkGeek. I tell you once I get some office space and put aside some cash to pimp it out... well... check out these for starters: http://www.thinkgeek.com/computing/input/8193/?cpg=29H http://www.thinkgeek.com/computing/input/7a71/?cpg=21H http://www.thinkgeek.com/homeoffice/gear/6ad2/ http://www.thinkgeek.com/homeoffice/posters/6aac/ and MUCH MORE!!!
